Syrup from Dantooine Cane originated on the planet known as Dantooine. In the initial three centuries following the discovery of the planet Makeb during the Mandalorian Wars, the Hutt species discovered that pterathki, avian creatures that were native to Makeb, were especially flavorful when coated with Dantooine cane syrup.
The first reference to Dantooine cane syrup appeared in the pterathki Codex entry within Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel. This was a Digital Expansion from 2013 that was launched for the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game.
