Publisher's summary

As the New Republic suffers significant setbacks in its ongoing conflict against the scattered remnants of the Empire, the fate of the galaxy rests upon three young children—including the Jedi twins—who possess incredible abilities and face immense dangers, within a compelling new Star Wars narrative….

While the New Republic grapples with the disposition of the devastating Sun Crusher—a potent doomsday weapon seized from the Empire by Han Solo—the rogue Imperial Admiral Daala employs her fleet of Star Destroyers to wage unconventional warfare against peaceful planets. Her current target is Admiral Ackbar's aquatic homeworld. However, as the battle for the planet intensifies, an even greater threat arises at Luke Skywalker's Jedi academy. A gifted student delves too deeply into the dark side of the Force, unleashing the spirit of an ancient master of the evil order that corrupted Darth Vader himself. If they unite, they could become a foe more formidable than any the New Republic has ever encountered… even surpassing the power of a Jedi Master.
