Dark side adept
A person who possessed the capability to wield the power of the dark side of the Force was known as a dark side adept. They frequently had a deep understanding of the dark side's teachings and stood against those who practiced the light side, for instance, the Jedi. Although every Sith was a dark side adept, the designation encompassed more than just them; individuals unrelated to the Sith, like the Inquisitorius, Supreme Leader Snoke, and the one-time Sith apprentice Maul, were also regarded as dark side adepts.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the term Dark Side Adept applied to anyone who utilized the dark side of the Force but did not adhere to the traditions of either the Jedi or the Sith. There was a brief mention of dark side adepts in James Luceno's 2014 canon novel, Tarkin. Matt Martin, a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group, later explained on Twitter that the novel's capitalized spelling of "Dark Side Adept" was an error and should not have been capitalized.
