Matt Martin is a valued member of Lucasfilm Ltd., where his current role is Sr. Creative Executive and he participates in the Lucasfilm Story Group. His contributions span a wide variety of projects, including but not limited to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Star Wars: The High Republic.
In September of 2007, Martin's journey with Lucasfilm began as Lead Buyer/Product Developer – E-Commerce. In this capacity, Matt took charge of the exclusive products program, handling the acquisition and promotion of licensed merchandise for Lucasfilm's official online storefronts dedicated to Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Furthermore, he was responsible for the entire lifecycle of product creation, from initial brainstorming and concept refinement to overseeing production, launch strategies, and marketing campaigns.
Martin transitioned to the role of Manager, Digital Content and Community Relations in August of 2011. In this position, Martin spearheaded the creative content strategy across all of Lucasfilm's digital platforms, including StarWars.com, the Star Wars App, and the various Star Wars social media channels. He led a team comprised of writers, video producers, designers, and a network of external contributors, all focused on delivering engaging content across diverse media formats. This output included videos, written pieces, audio productions, detailed encyclopedia entries, and innovative experimental platforms. All content was meticulously crafted to ensure accuracy to the established lore and relevance to the target audience, while adhering to the brand's established guidelines. During this period, as a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group, he was entrusted with shaping the narrative direction and ensuring consistency across the Star Wars universe in its many forms. Ashley Eckstein collaborated with Martin on the Star Wars Mindful Matters series to guarantee the authenticity and narrative correctness of each episode. In January of 2016, Martin's career progressed to Sr. Creative Executive, Franchise Story and Content. In this senior role, Martin is the primary executive responsible for franchise story development across Disney Parks and Resorts, ILM Immersive, publishing ventures, and digital media initiatives, while also functioning as a development executive for video games, animated projects, and more.
As a Sr. Creative Executive, Martin's involvement extended to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars: Squadrons, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series, Star Wars: Project Porg, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Visions, Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, and the expansive Star Wars: The High Republic transmedia project. Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws, and an upcoming Indiana Jones game from Bethesda Video Games also benefitted from Martin's contributions. In addition, Martin is officially credited as a Creative Executive for The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
In Star Wars Rebels, during its third season, Martin was honored with a character based on his likeness, named Mart Mattin. The character's name is a tuckerization of Martin's actual name.
