"Dark Vendetta" is a brief narrative crafted by Eric S. Trautmann with illustrations provided by Russell Walks. This story appeared in Star Wars Galaxy #8, and its events unfold in the year 10 BBY.
Following an intense interrogation session conducted by the Empire on Coruscant, the severely injured Corwin Shelvay and his Sullustan Jedi Master Darrin Arkanian attempt to locate Captain Rashh to facilitate their departure from the planet. Their efforts are thwarted by the arrival of Imperial High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne, who immediately engages Arkanian in a duel with lightsabers. Shortly thereafter, a contingent of Stormtroopers arrives, aiming their weapons at Shelvay. Tremayne then demands that Darrin relinquish his lightsaber, threatening the life of his Padawan if he refuses. Hesitantly, Arkanian complies, deactivating his lightsaber. This allows Tremayne to strike the Sullustan with his own lightsaber, resulting in Arkanian's death. In a swift response, Shelvay seizes his master's lightsaber and, with a single strike, severs Tremayne's arm and a portion of his face. These injuries necessitate the replacement of his arm with a prosthetic and the installation of a cybernetic eye.
Upon regaining consciousness in a medical facility, Tremayne is confronted by Darth Vader, who expresses his profound disappointment in Tremayne's failure to extract any valuable intelligence from the two Jedi. Tremayne then makes a promise that he would not fail again.
