The eighth publication of Star Wars Galaxy Magazine is Star Wars Galaxy Magazine 8. Topps released it in July of 1996. The central theme explored in this edition was the dark side of the Force.

The Deluxe Collectors' Edition of issue 8, available only to subscribers and at comic book stores, was packaged in a polybag alongside two promotional trading cards. One card promoted the Topps Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire card set, while the other showcased the cover artwork for issue 8, created by Cam Kennedy. This issue also featured the fold-out poster article titled The Deadly Dozen.
