Darth Vader's Palace

Darth Vader's Palace, alternatively known as Darth Vader's castle, stood as a colossal edifice within the Imperial City on Imperial Center, more commonly known as Coruscant. Functioning as the official residence of Darth Vader, a Dark Lord of the Sith and the Supreme Commander overseeing the Imperial Military, Darth Vader's palace shared a similar altitude to Palpatine's Imperial Palace and the Palace belonging to Xizor. Nevertheless, the Emperor's abode remained the largest of these three imposing structures. All three residences were situated within a convenient walking distance of each other, connected by heavily guarded passageways.

Description

In stark contrast to the opulent residences of Prince Xizor and Emperor Palpatine, filled with countless treasures and luxurious items, the interior of Lord Vader's Palace presented a far more austere atmosphere. Despite having access to immense wealth and resources as the Supreme Commander, Vader chose to display no extravagance or ornamentation, eschewing even simple holo-framed images on the walls; the furnishings were primarily unadorned structures crafted from greel wood. The Palace also contained a hyperbaric chamber, much like the one found on his flagship, the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Executor. Within this chamber, Vader routinely engaged in meditation, nurturing his connection to the dark side in an effort to achieve temporary relief for his damaged respiratory system. Furthermore, the Dark Lord frequently engaged in combat simulations against combat droids to maintain his proficiency with a lightsaber.

Notwithstanding the minimalist preferences of its occupant, the Palace was equipped with an extensive security infrastructure. Sophisticated surveillance and intelligence systems were employed to scrutinize every conversation held within its walls, even monitoring subtle facial expressions and body language. These data streams were analyzed by a team of body language specialists stationed within the Palace's security offices. Xizor frequently used spies to observe Vader's activities at the Palace, ensuring he was always aware of the cyborg warlord's presence or absence from his Coruscant home.

Vader's personal living spaces were situated deep within the castle's interior, protected by reinforced blast doors and other advanced security measures. A compact command center was conveniently located nearby, enabling Vader to maintain contact with events unfolding across the galaxy. The castle also encompassed the Sith Lord's training facilities, including a combat arena where he honed his lightsaber skills against extensively modified ASP-19 battle droids, and a docking bay for his personal transport, the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle ST 321.

The personnel assigned to the Palace's landing bay were rigorously trained to ensure Vader's private shuttle was prepared for departure with utmost speed, typically within the time it took the Dark Lord of the Sith to descend via turbolift to the landing bay level. One documented instance recounts a situation in which the Supreme Commander arrived to find his shuttle not yet ready, resulting in the immediate execution of those responsible. Consequently, preparations for Vader's shuttle became synonymous with unwavering punctuality.

The Palace was not Vader's sole residence on Coruscant; he also maintained a fortress retreat located on the planet's northern hemisphere, along the shores of the Western Sea. Furthermore, he possessed a private citadel on Vjun known as Bast Castle.

History

The construction of the Palace was commissioned by Vader's master, Palpatine, following the completion of the construction and subsequent expansion of the Imperial Palace.

In 3 ABY, Vader held a meeting within the Palace with Imperial spy Jix and his Noghri bodyguard Kohvrekhar.
