"TARGET SKYWALKER" DARTH VADER has meticulously planned and executed powerful maneuvers to secure HAN SOLO'S carbonite-frozen form, all driven by a singular objective: LUKE SKYWALKER. Luke is the only individual capable of challenging Vader's position beside the Emperor. The culmination of these efforts arrives as father and son converge, and Luke confronts a startling revelation that will irrevocably alter his future!
Vader discerns Luke's deep-seated longing for a paternal figure, emphasizing that Vader will not fulfill that yearning. Vader further states that Luke's fear of the Force consuming him causes Luke to desperately cling to his allies, as if he desires to vanish. Exploiting these weaknesses, Vader threatens to bisect Han unless Luke accepts Vader's offer to embrace the Dark Side.
Luke acknowledges to Leia his inability to defeat Vader independently, warning that continued engagement would endanger Leia, Han, Chewbacca, and Lando. He strategizes to use himself as a distraction, allowing Leia to safely orchestrate Han Solo's rescue from the Imperial Shuttle en route to Tatooine. Despite Leia's apprehension about Vader's potential lethal actions against Luke, Luke reassures her of his safety. Artoo expresses concern.
Luke endeavors to lure Vader into a pursuit using starfighters. This is to facilitate his companions' mission to free Han Solo, who remains encased in carbonite and is being transported to Tatooine. A Rodian member of the group identifies a T-65 X-Wing nearby, noting its desirability to the crime lord Ororab. The criminal syndicate launches magna-harpoons, briefly ensnaring the craft. However, Vader's counter-fire liberates Skywalker from the harpoons, resulting in Luke's crash landing on the icy planet of Jekara.
Sly Moore commits an act of betrayal against Vader by enlisting IG-88B to assassinate him, collaborating with Ochi of Bestoon's Droid Crush pirates. Ochi uncovers Sly Moore's plot to eliminate Vader and attempts to murder her.
The Droid Crush pirates aid Luke Skywalker in his escape from Jekara by repairing his T-65 X-Wing.
Ochi of Bestoon and Sly Moore engage in continued combat. During their fight, they discuss Vader's anxieties concerning Skywalker, noting the Emperor's intention to supplant Vader with Luke. Sly Moore asserts her loyalty to the Empire, dismissing Ochi of Bestoon as merely another hidden servant.
