Dean Williams, a visual artist and illustrator who has received awards for his work, provided the illustrations for Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire, a novella penned by William C. Dietz. In 1996, at the Association of Illustrators' Los Angeles Show, seven of Williams' artworks were selected; notably, two of these selected pieces are included in the novella, specifically one showing the Katarn family's droid, Wee Gee, and another portraying Morgan Katarn's severed head impaled on a stake.
