Deep Roy, a Kenyan-born English actor, comedian, stuntman, puppeteer, and of Indian heritage, was born on December 1 of 1957. In Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, he took on the role of Droopy McCool. Furthermore, he portrayed an Ewok located on Endor and served as a stand-in for R2-D2 in select scenes. For several second unit shots in The Empire Strikes Back showing the diminutive Jedi walking or standing in the open, he played Jedi Master Yoda, performing those scenes on his knees to achieve the appropriate height. In the 2005 cinematic adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, he embodied all of the Oompa-Loompas. Additionally, he appears as the alien Keenser in the 2009 movie Star Trek and its 2013 follow-up, Star Trek Into Darkness.
Sci-fi enthusiasts recognize him primarily for his portrayal of Mr. Sin in the Doctor Who serial Talons of Weng-Chiang and as the Posicarian delegate in the later serial Mindwarp. Until Simon Pegg appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, he held the distinction of being the sole actor to have roles in the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Doctor Who franchises.
