Department of System Exploration

The Department of System Exploration existed within the Galactic Empire, with its origins dating back to at least the Empire's founding in 19 BBY. In principle, the department was intended to manage explorations of star systems; however, the funds allocated to it, similar to the Department of Public Works, were diverted under the direct command of Emperor Palpatine personally. These resources were used for the creation of both the original Death Star and the superdreadnought known as Eye of Palpatine.
