Department of Threat Assessment

The Department of Threat Assessment of the New Republic came into being shortly following the establishment of the New Republic in 5 ABY. This organization was a division of the armed forces, stemming from the Task Force on Alliance Security. The Task Force was discontinued following the liberation of the galactic capital, Coruscant. A primary objective of the Department was to aid the fledgling government in its efforts to eliminate Imperial influence, as well as identifying any groups that endangered the New Republic's stability.

Zgorth'sth, a Mon Calamarian and experienced member of Alliance Intelligence, who simultaneously achieved the rank of captain, was appointed as its initial leader.
