Desanne

Desanne, originating from Kalist VI, was an Imperial Navy Commander. A political mistake in 3 ABY led to Commander Desanne being relieved of the majority of his formal responsibilities. Consequently, he was reassigned to transporting dignitaries and important Imperial figures. Following Darth Vader's unsuccessful attempt to capture Luke Skywalker on Cloud City, Vader instructed Desanne to provide his shuttle for transport to the Executor.

Biography

A human male, Desanne was a native of the Planet Kalist VI, situated within the Deep Core. During the Galactic Civil War, he held the rank of Commander in the Imperial Navy. A political misstep occurring in 3 ABY resulted in his removal from most official duties, leading to his assignment of transporting dignitaries and high-ranking members of the Empire.

In that same year, Desanne appeared via holographic transmission during a conference involving twenty battleships aboard the Star Dreadnought Executor, the flagship under the command of the Sith Lord Darth Vader. The conference addressed the whereabouts of a Corellian YT-1300 light freighter, specifically the Millennium Falcon, which had managed to escape the secret Rebel base during the Battle of Hoth. During this meeting, at least one officer perished when an asteroid struck the bridge of his Star Destroyer.

Later, Desanne was present on Cloud City, accompanied by a small contingent of Imperial stormtroopers. Vader, having tracked the freighter to the city, successfully captured the ship's pilot, Han Solo, and the rest of the crew. Subsequently, he also encountered Luke Skywalker, the young individual responsible for the destruction of the Death Star battle station three years prior. A duel ensued, ultimately resulting in Skywalker's escape from Vader, along with the remaining members of the Falcon's crew. Desanne and his stormtroopers then joined Vader, who instructed Desanne to inform his Star Destroyer to prepare for his arrival. They then boarded a Lambda-class shuttle and departed for the Executor to continue the pursuit.

Personality and traits

Desanne possessed brown hair and a fair complexion.

Equipment

Desanne was attired in the standard Imperial officer's uniform. He carried a single code cylinder, and his rank insignia plaque displayed a configuration of six squares in red and blue.

Behind the scenes

Desanne's initial appearance was as an unnamed Imperial officer alongside Vader in the 1980 film, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. The role was played by Patrick Ginter, an English actor who did not receive credit for his portrayal. Ginter's scenes on Bespin were likely shot on July 6, 1979. Ginter stated that he also appeared as Desanne in holographic form to the right of Captain Lorth Needa. He was later given a name and a short background in the Cloud City Limited expansion set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game in November of 1997.
