This red, fluid-like substance, composed of numerous single-celled organisms, was designed to ingest any organic waste products. Nevertheless, it also had the ability to break down certain inorganic items, for instance clothes.
During their mission in 27 ABY, Luke Skywalker, along with the Jedi and the Wraith Squadron strike force, encountered one of these organisms on Coruscant. It resided within a tank, where it cleverly hid a wheel at the base that triggered a concealed turbolift.
