Diane Polley


Diane Polley (born August 31, 1935; died January 10, 1990) lent her voice to the character of Dobah in the animated series Ewoks. Her vocal talents were featured in thirteen episodes of the show.

Beyond her voice work, Polley had a diverse career encompassing acting and casting direction. As an actress, she took on roles in series such as the dramatic program Street Legal (where she worked alongside Star Wars colleague Shane Rimmer), along with smaller parts in Encounter and Ramona. As a casting director, she contributed to productions like Anne of Green Gables and Philip Marlowe, Private Eye, the latter of which also included Rimmer, as well as William Hootkins, Bruce Boa, Garrick Hagon, and Christopher Muncke in its cast.

At 54 years old, Polley's life concluded on January 10, 1990. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Sarah Polley, an Academy Award-winning screenwriter and actress. Mother and daughter shared the screen in Ramona, where Sarah played the lead role.
