William Hootkins, born on July 5, 1948 and passing away on October 23, 2005, was an actor for both the stage and screen. Notably, he played the character of Jek Tono Porkins in the movie A New Hope.
Beyond his role in A New Hope, Hootkins also participated in two other Lucasfilm productions. He took on the role of Major Eaton in Raiders of the Lost Ark from 1981 (appearing alongside Harrison Ford), and also played Diaghilev in the 1992 episode titled "Barcelona, May 1917" of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
Additionally, Hootkins is well-remembered for his portrayal of Max Eckhardt, a police lieutenant in Gotham City, in the 1989 film Batman. This film also featured Billy Dee Williams in the role of Harvey Dent.
On October 23, 2005, Hootkins passed away in Santa Monica, California due to pancreatic cancer.
