Disney Channel


DisneyChannelLogo The Disney Channel logo Disney Channel, which began broadcasting on April 18, 1983, is the primary channel for Disney Channels Worldwide. This organization is a subdivision of the Disney-ABC Television Group, itself a component of The Walt Disney Company. The programming on Disney Channel is mainly TV shows and made-for-TV movies, targeted towards viewers generally between the ages of 9 and 14, or pre-teens and teenagers.

The Disney Channel aired the television films Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor during the 1990s; these movies were initially broadcast on ABC, which is also owned by Disney. A special crossover episode titled Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars, which is not considered canon to the Star Wars universe, was shown on both Disney Channel and Disney XD on July 26, 2014. The premiere movie for Star Wars Rebels, titled Spark of Rebellion, was initially broadcast on Disney Channel on October 3, 2014. Subsequently, the regular series was moved to Disney XD, a sister channel. Reruns of regular episodes then began airing on Disney Channel starting on November 7, 2014.
