Distinguished Flying Medal
The Distinguished Flying Medal served as a recognition bestowed upon both members of the Alliance Military and civilian pilots. It honored acts of heroism, remarkable bravery, or exceptional skill displayed while operating or serving as crew aboard a starship or airspeeder in the context of supporting military endeavors. Despite its frequent conferral upon Alliance pilots engaged in combat, it's important to note that this medal was not exclusively designated for combat situations. The Distinguished Flying Medal could be granted to pilots or crews who navigated blockades, to rebel smugglers, or to any pilot who exceeded the normal expectations of their role while flying in service of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
The medal's design featured a circular medallion crafted from silver alloy, depicting a stylized ion turbine. This medallion was suspended from a wide, rectangular red ribbon adorned with a prominent central silver stripe, bordered by two slender blue stripes. Typically, this medal was only awarded once to a pilot throughout their career.
