Dopplegänger

Dopplegänger, alternatively known as Similfuturus within the High Galactic language, represented an advanced Force power. It granted its user the capability to conjure a fleeting replica of themselves or an external item. This duplicate was visually identical to the genuine article through manipulation of the Force.

Description

Also known as Similfuturus in High Galactic, Dopplegänger was an advanced Force power. It empowered a practitioner to manifest a temporary duplicate of either themselves or an object, indistinguishable from the original via the Force. Masters of this technique could generate Force phantoms resembling any person they chose, or deceive adversaries into perceiving a greater number of entities, such as droids, than actually existed.

Applications

The Force user could experience the world through the senses of their dopplegänger, which appeared entirely real to outside observers. The user could even use telekinesis to manipulate objects, enhancing the illusion's authenticity.

Furthermore, the dopplegänger was detectable by all droid audio and video sensors. However, it would dissipate if the Force user sustained an injury and ceased channeling the power.

On occasion, even a powerful Sith Lord could be deceived into believing the projection was genuine.

A Force phantom shared similarities with a dopplegänger, as both involved astral projections created through the Force. However, a Force phantom represented an entity other than the user's own image. Dark side practitioners primarily employed Force phantoms, which often possessed corporeal qualities and inflicted harm upon living beings.

Users

Luke Skywalker, Darth Tyranus, and Xesh all demonstrated proficiency in this ability.

Darth Sidious once pondered whether Darth Plagueis had employed this power to mislead him into launching an imprudent assault during training exercises.

A different iteration of dopplegänger was also utilized by the Fallanassi. This version enabled the creation of a flawless illusion of oneself or another object, visually indistinguishable from reality. This illusion lacked size limitations and was both visible and audible. However, unlike other versions, it could not physically move objects through telekinesis.

The Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano contemplated the potential effectiveness of this ability when applied to an entire clone army in The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force.

Behind the scenes

While the German spelling is "Doppelgänger," the term sometimes appears as "doppelganger." In 1993's Star Wars Chess, Yoda conjures two doppelgängers of himself to confound Darth Vader before ultimately defeating the Sith Lord.
