Doreen, a waterworld, existed within the Doreen system located in the Senex sector. This sector was itself a component of the Senex-Juvex region, found within the Western Reaches of the Mid Rim. This planet was positioned in proximity to the Tangles within its sector, and it maintained hyperlane connections to both the Kalgo and Usnia systems. Doreen's landscape was characterized by calm waters dotted with various islands.
A species of enormous cetacean resided on Doreen, their homeworld, and they produced Doreenian ambergris through regurgitation. This substance was highly sought after by many perfumers from other worlds. The ambergris was commonly discovered either floating on the surface of the water or deposited along the shores of Doreen's islands. As a result, groups of scavengers and smugglers using skimmers became a problem for the planet, and they were pursued by the security forces of House Petro, an aristocratic Ancient Houses family within the Senex-Juvex region.
The reference book The Essential Atlas, penned by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry in 2009, introduced Doreen, specifying its location as grid square L-18.
