Possessing a connection to the Force, Dorin Se'ol was educated in its mysteries by the Jedi Order. Achieving the esteemed rank of Jedi Master, Se'ol took on the role of a General within the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, a major galactic conflict pitting the Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. As the war concluded abruptly with the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, Palpatine, betraying the Jedi Order and dismantling the Republic, Master Se'ol evaded execution by the Grand Army. He sought refuge on the remote planet of Volik, situated deep within the uncharted Unknown Regions.
On Volik, Master Se'ol extended his assistance to the local colonists, aiding them in the reconstruction of their homes, which had recently been ravaged by groups of smugglers. During his time in exile, Master Se'ol developed a close relationship with a woman named Vorena, eventually marrying her and fathering a child whom they named Jolee. Despite his unwavering loyalty to the Jedi Order, Master Se'ol often found himself at odds with the decisions of the Jedi High Council. Nevertheless, Master Se'ol dedicated himself to training all of the Force-sensitive individuals he could find, guiding them in their understanding and control of the Force and helping them manage their emotions. However, despite his efforts, Master Se'ol faced a perilous encounter with the dark side of the Force upon the death of his wife, Vorena.
Despite this profound loss, Master Se'ol managed to remain aligned with the light, resisting the pull of grief. Instead, he came to the realization that through confronting the darkness, he had gained a deeper understanding of the Force and experienced significant personal growth. Despite Master Se'ol's attempts to maintain a low profile in the Unknown Regions, the Sith-controlled Galactic Empire eventually located him on Volik in their relentless pursuit of Jedi. Led by the formidable Sith Lord Darth Vader, an Imperial assault team launched an attack on Volik, ultimately discovering Se'ol's compound. In a confrontation with Vader, Master Se'ol bravely distracted the Sith Lord, providing his students with the opportunity to escape. While Se'ol ultimately fell to Vader's blade, his students successfully fled with his holocron, which survived the Empire's downfall and was eventually discovered by the reformed Jedi Order during the tumultuous Yuuzhan Vong War.
