Duncan Hikmat

Duncan Hikmat, a male Human native to Stobar, piloted a cloud car for the Bespin Wing Guard during the Galactic Civil War. He was active circa 3 ABY. Notably, Hikmat gained recognition in publications like Action Tidings and Figg Daily Bulletin for his role in capturing a group of Moogan smugglers dealing in stolen art. In 3 ABY, he served as a co-pilot in one of the two Storm IV Twin-Pod cloud cars operating in the vicinity of Cloud City when the Millennium Falcon made its arrival. This Cloud Car discharged warning shots at the vessel before leading it to a designated landing area.

Behind the scenes

Jell Spiel, Hikmat's co-pilot, achieved prominence primarily through his action figure in Kenner's The Empire Strikes Back toy line. Both pilots are briefly visible within the Cloud Cars in the movie itself. Detailed photographs of the Cloud Car prop used in the production reveal two distinct pilots inside the pods; Hikmat, identifiable by his mustache, was unnamed at the time. In 2010, Hasbro created an action figure based on Hikmat, although the packaging emulated the original Kenner figure by using the photo of Spiel. Hikmat's identity and backstory were finally revealed in the Rogues Gallery section of Star Wars Insider 148.

The complete uniforms of the figures drew inspiration from concept art created by Nilo Rodis-Jamero. This art was subsequently utilized to depict Rebel Alliance officer Kem Monnon in The Illustrated Star Wars Universe.
