Dyyz "Megadeath" Nataz was once a member of the Sector Ranger corps, holding the rank of officer. During his service, he collaborated with a Diollan named Spurch Goa. His tenure with the Sector Rangers lasted a number of years, but his assignments ultimately embroiled him in disputes with the Hutt crime lords who controlled Nal Hutta.
Prior to his involvement with the Sector Rangers, Nataz held a high-ranking position as a police officer on his homeworld.
Jabba Desilijic Tiure, a prominent gangster, initiated a series of events that led to Dyzz's dismissal from the Sector Rangers. As a result, he chose to maintain a low profile and relocated to the Corellian Sector, specifically the nearby moon of Nar Shaddaa. There, he and Spurch repurposed their combat skills for the purpose of bounty hunting.
In the period just before the Battle of Yavin, a high-ranking official within the Galactic Empire hired the bounty hunters to assassinate a corrupt Imperial spice inspector stationed on Nar Shaddaa. The target was known to them personally, and they had previously engaged in transactions with him. Nevertheless, they were bound by their agreement. They ambushed the inspector on Level 88 and swiftly eliminated him with multiple blaster shots.
Another bounty hunter, known as Gorm the Dissolver, journeyed to the Corellian Sector in search of Dyyz and Spurch. Jabba the Hutt had issued a bounty on the pair, seeking their termination. Gorm had the bounty hunters in his sights, ready to kill them, but fortunately, an ambitious young Rodian named Greedo intervened by firing a blaster shot into Gorm's back, incapacitating him. Dyyz and Spurch expressed their gratitude to the enthusiastic mercenary, and Spurch offered to mentor him in the craft of bounty hunting.
Dyyz later accompanied Spurch and Greedo on a trip to Tatooine to settle their issues with Jabba the Hutt. Shortly thereafter, Dyyz departed Tatooine independently, securing passage with fellow bounty hunters Zuckuss and 4-LOM. However, his subsequent activities remain undisclosed.
While presumed to be Human, the actual physical characteristics of Dyyz Nataz are not known. He was seen wearing an antiquated set of brown, deteriorated Ithullan armor, likely pilfered from a museum, given that the Ithullans were nearly extinct by Dyyz's era. In addition to the armor, he wore a large, bell-shaped durasteel helmet, covered in rust. The red photoreceptors integrated into the helmet's visor gave Dyyz a menacing appearance that instilled fear in anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path.
The character Dyyz Nataz was conceived by comic book author Tom Veitch.
