Echnos City

Echnos City stood as the capital on the moon of Echnos. This city, brimming with advanced technology, existed within a massive dome that maintained an artificial atmosphere.

Access

The dome's radius measured 20 kilometers, extending vertically for 2000 levels. Eight airlocks, positioned at the dome's apex, served as entry points to the city. The largest of these airlocks could accommodate ships up to 200 meters in length. Landing facilities, designed as standardized clusters of four open-sided, circular platforms, were situated atop the tallest buildings. These platforms granted access to the buildings below via turbolifts.

Adjacent to the turbolifts were computer terminals offering docking services. Travelers could utilize these terminals to request services like refueling, consumables replenishment, and minor repairs. These services, paid for through credit insertion or transfer from an Echnos City account, were fully automated.

The city

Level 75 marked the uppermost open-air level within the domed city. All levels below this one stretched across the dome's entire protected area. Echnos, characterized by its narrow, steam-filled corridors teeming with beings from over a thousand worlds, was a hub for numerous disreputable establishments. Technology-related businesses were particularly prevalent and popular.

Hotels were abundant but cramped, with a room for two considered a significant luxury. Furthermore, the city housed several casinos and other entertainment venues. Similar to the hotels, these establishments were confined, often resulting in a casino sharing space with a cantina. Retailers and shops, primarily dealing in technology, were common in Echnos, and weapons were readily available. While technology and manufactured goods were inexpensive, foodstuffs, raw materials, and chemical compounds were scarce and exceptionally costly.

Located at the city's base was the Echnos Exhibition Dome, which hosted a weekly demolition derby known as the BlastBoast 2000.

Residents and guests

Echnos City was populated by a diverse array of individuals representing various species and professions. Despite the cult's technological focus, the locals displayed a disdain for cyborgs, harboring a deep-seated aversion to replacing organic beings with automated systems. A mercenary's convention, held in one of the city's numerous conference rooms, occurred at least once. During this event, the Galactic Empire, through Lieutenant Vincent Gatharard, outsourced contracts of various types, including bounty hunter assignments.

The chase

In one particular incident, a group of adventurers attended the aforementioned meeting only to discover that the Empire sought them for treason and armed rebellion. They managed to escape the conference room, but were pursued throughout the city by numerous bounty hunters.

This same group later participated in the BlastBoast 2000 race. This drew the attention of the shrewd bounty hunter, Daxtorn Lethos, who managed to capture them by trapping them in shuttlecraft programmed to transport them to his spacecraft, the Gorgon. They narrowly escaped.

The local authorities intervened, dispatching a squadron of Protector StarSpeeders to eliminate both the adventurers and the bounty hunter. Both parties successfully exited the dome and jumped to lightspeed.
