The Eidolon represented a fresh design based on the Strike-class cruiser.
The Eidolon incorporated several technological improvements, most notably enhanced TIE launch systems. These racks could rapidly deploy numerous TIE/LN starfighters in a very short timeframe. After TIEs had docked within the dual rack, located at the base of the command tower's docking bay, they were transferred through maintenance and refueling stations before arriving at the launch corridors on either side of the vessel. This design facilitated a continuous flow of fighter support for short-duration missions.
Kuat Drive Yards secretly constructed the Eidolon within the Seswenna sector, but the ship vanished on its initial voyage. The wider galaxy was unaware that the vessel served as a deception by Sate Pestage to conceal his amassed fortune on Tatooine. Although the [cruiser](/article/cruiser-legends] did not enter mass production, the prototype's hull and launch rack were completed and adapted to create Eidolon Base.
