The Socorron gambler Lando Calrissian possessed one, and in 3 BBY he considered using its stored energy to power his ship's systems, hoping it would provide enough energy for liftoff from the planetoid Oseon 2795, where he was engaged in a game of Sabacc.
The first mention of electric shavers occurred in the 1983 novel Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, the initial book in The Lando Calrissian Adventures series, authored by L. Neil Smith.
