The mining asteroid called Oseon 2795 existed within the Oseon system. This system was itself a component of the Centrality sector, found in the Outer Rim Territories'. Being in close proximity to its sun, the hot conditions on the asteroid were noticeable to its inhabitants, a struggling colony of miners, even with functioning air-conditioning and life support technologies.
In the year 3 BBY, Rokur Gepta, the Sorcerer of Tund, along with Governor Duttes Mer from the Rafa system, dispatched the anthropologist Osuno Whett to Oseon 2795. Their goal was for Whett to locate a spacer that they could manipulate into acquiring the Mindharp artifact from the Rafa system for Gepta and Mer. Whett identified his target in Lando Calrissian, a gambler and freighter captain, who was engaged in a sabacc game alongside Whett, local miners Vett Fori and Arun Feb, as well as Constable T. Lund Phuna, a corrupt Oseon Peacekeeper. During this game, Whett successfully persuaded Calrissian to travel to the Rafa system. Calrissian agreed after Phuna attempted to falsely accuse him of cheating, which forced Calrissian to escape the Oseon system.

The asteroid and small planetoid Oseon 2795, primarily composed of iron and nickel, possessed minimal gravity and was located within the Oseon system. It resided in the Centrality sector, which formed a part of the Slice area of the Outer Rim Territories. The Falko Run hyperlane connected Oseon 2795, as well as the rest of the Oseon system, to the Arleen system. Furthermore, the Cadma Conduit hyperspace route linked it to the Erilnar system and the Dagelin Minor and Simbarc systems of the Cadma sector. Oseon 2795's orbit around the Oseon sun was closer than the orbits of most asteroids in the Oseon system.
Because Oseon 2795 was so close to its powerful sun, its barren surface was continually struck by intense radiation. Lando Calrissian, who visited the asteroid, felt that this radiation permeated the asteroid's interior. Despite the presence of air-conditioning and life support systems as advanced as those on other Oseon system celestial bodies, the rooms inside the asteroid felt uncomfortably hot. Calrissian believed that the heat, whether real or imagined, hindered the mental abilities of those playing the sabacc card game with him.

During the Galactic Empire's reign, the Sorcerer of Tund, Rokur Gepta, became interested in acquiring the Mindharp, a legendary artifact created by the technologically advanced Sharu species from the Rafa system. Gepta partnered with the system's governor, Duttes Mer, to obtain the Mindharp. Together, they hired the anthropologist Ottdefa Osuno Whett to research the Mindharp legends of the Toka, the primitive survivors of the Sharu civilization. After Whett's research, Gepta and Mer, aware of the Toka prophecy that the Mindharp would be found by a stranger to the Toka, a spacer accompanied by a silver-armored non-humanoid being, dispatched the Ottdefa to Oseon 2795, offering him a new job in return.
Gepta and Mer had secured the cooperation of the local law enforcement on the asteroid, where Whett was tasked with finding an unsuspecting freighter captain. Whett's mission was to lure the spacer to the Rafa system with the promise of owning his valuable droid, Vuffi Raa, and tales of the Treasure of Rafa, a collection of riches supposedly hidden within the abandoned structures of the Sharu culture in the Rafa system. Gepta and Mer planned to use this individual to gain access to the Mindharp.
Whett's official reason for being on Oseon 2795, as stated in his entry documents, was to study the lives of the poor local miners, contrasting them with the wealth of the rest of the Oseon system. Vett Fori, the chief supervisor of the local mining operation, was puzzled by the Ottdefa's presence, as the miners had not hired an anthropologist. Whett claimed his studies were funded by an Imperial grant.

Around 3 BBY, Lando Calrissian, a gambler and the captain of the freighter Millennium Falcon, intended to travel to the Dela system to gamble. However, being a relatively inexperienced ship pilot, he felt daunted by the complex route and the notoriously difficult planetary landing required. Instead, Calrissian followed the advice of a spaceport attendant and journeyed to Oseon 2795, though he still faced landing challenges there.
On Oseon 2795, Calrissian joined a sabacc game with Whett, Fori, Arun Feb, Fori's assistant, and Constable T. Lund Phuna, a corrupt member of the Oseon Peacekeepers. Phuna's task, assigned by Gepta and Mer, was to create a situation forcing Calrissian to flee the system, ideally towards the Rafa system. The heat in the small room led the players to strip down to shorts and shirt-sleeves, and most of them were drinking ice water. After two hours of playing with little success, Calrissian joked that he might have to drain his electric shaver to power the Millennium Falcon's energy storage system just to get the ship off Oseon 2795, which he considered a "Core-forsaken" planetoid.
During the game, Whett mentioned the Treasure of Rafa, sparking a conversation among the players and prompting Calrissian to consider traveling to the Rafa system. The prospect of an easier journey and the allure of the treasure renewed Calrissian's interest in the card game, diminishing his awareness of the asteroid's heat.

Remembering his landing difficulties and realizing he could use a pilot droid to navigate to and land on a planet in the Rafa system, Calrissian allowed Whett to bet his droid on the game. Calrissian won the sabacc hand, but Whett revealed that the droid, Vuffi Raa, was actually on the planet Rafa IV, not Oseon 2795. Enraged, the gambler considered using his concealed pistol on the anthropologist, but realized that carrying lethal weapons was illegal in the Oseon system, which could lead to his imprisonment or death on the asteroid.
At that moment, Phuna planted a cheater device on Calrissian and then pretended to find it. Whett, furious, lunged at Calrissian, taking advantage of Oseon 2795's low gravity, but Feb, who had seen Phuna planting the device, knocked him out. Trusting her assistant's judgment, Fori also knocked Phuna unconscious and told Calrissian to take his winnings and Whett's documents about his droid and leave the Oseon system. Within twenty minutes of leaving the room, Calrissian rented a Class Five pilot droid for a large deposit and secured it in his cockpit. Ten minutes later, he left the Oseon system for the Rafa system. Months later, after Gepta and Mer had successfully manipulated Calrissian into retrieving the Mindharp, Mer revealed how the trap on Oseon 2795 had been set up while gloating over Calrissian's capture. Calrissian's visit to the asteroid was later documented in The Essential Chronology, a 25 ABY galactic history chronicle by the Historical Council of the New Republic.
Unlike the other wealthy asteroid settlements in the Oseon system, Oseon 2795 was a poor colony mainly inhabited by hardrock miners. Governor Duttes Mer of the Rafa system described the asteroid's entire population as unlucky. Lando Calrissian noted that all the miners on Oseon 2795 were short, speculating that a compact body was considered advantageous among the locals.

Oseon 2795 was the initial setting of Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, the first novel in The Lando Calrissian Adventures trilogy by L. Neil Smith, published in 1983.
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," an article for the roleplaying game published in 1990 in the thirteenth issue of Voyages SF magazine, placed the Oseon system, and therefore Oseon 2795, in the Zebitrope sector. As this article was not released through Lucas Licensing, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed. Later, the 2009 reference book, The Essential Atlas, contradicted the Voyages SF 13 placement, establishing that the Oseon system was located in grid square T-8 within the Centrality.
