Eli Gand was a Human of the male gender.
Gand operated as a dishonest trader located on Kashyyyk. During the year 3956 BBY, he held a servant in indentured servitude named Matton Dasol. Matton was obligated to work for Eli in order to settle a debt that his fellow crew members had accrued during a stop on the Wookiee planet, ostensibly for acquiring supplies. Eli manipulated Matton by claiming that his crew had abandoned him on Kashyyyk without settling the debt, thus forcing him to work it off under what he termed "standard trading rules." The truth was that the merchant had deceived Matton's crewmates, leading them to believe they could find salvage in the Shadowlands of the arboreal world. This turned out to be a deadly trap, as Eli ambushed and murdered them, potentially seizing their ship as well.
When Revan and their companions arrived on Kashyyyk seeking the Star Maps that would lead them to the Star Forge, they encountered Eli and Matton's modest trading post. There, the two recounted the circumstances of Dasol's "employment" in a convoluted manner, prompting Mission Vao to remark that the situation "smelled worse then an overcrowded ronto stable." As fate would have it, Revan, while exploring the Shadowlands, came across a damaged droid known as D-A02. This droid possessed a recording of Eli's act of betrayal. Revan returned the droid's head, containing the recording, to Matton. Realizing that his deception had been exposed, Eli attempted to flee. His corpse was later discovered on the Great Walkway, suggesting he was killed by predators native to Kashyyyk.
At this juncture, the player has the option to persuade Matton either to execute Eli for his deceit or to simply allow the former merchant to escape, presumably into the Shadowlands. Regardless of the choice, Matton will assume control of the shop and reward Revan with credits and a minor discount. However, choosing the former option will cause Zaalbar to make a comment that clearly indicates a decrease in his trust towards you.
In the Xbox iteration of the game, Eli is depicted as clean-shaven with darker hair; it remains uncertain whether this portrayal or the one from the PC version (displayed above) is considered canonical.
