Elizabeth Hand, an author of American science-fiction and fantasy novels, is the writer of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth books in the Young Boba Fett series: specifically, Maze of Deception, Hunted, A New Threat, and Pursuit. While she was originally scheduled to author a book taking place in the Old Republic era, she ultimately decided against it.
For the Washington Post, Hand penned an approving critique of Alan Dean Foster's novelization of The Force Awakens. Within this review, she commented that the highlight of her Star Wars franchise writing experience was the fan correspondence she received from young male readers, many of whom had limited experience with reading. A particularly memorable letter came from a third-grade student who wanted to conduct a phone interview with her for a school project - the boy's second choice for the subject of his report was none other than U.S. President Thomas Jefferson.
