Boba Fett: Pursuit, concluding the series, represents the sixth and last young-adult novel detailing the escapades of Boba Fett during the period spanning from Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones to Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
A son seeks vengeance for his father's demise.
Boba Fett is becoming recognized as one of the galaxy's most proficient bounty hunters. Having survived his perilous encounter with the formidable General Grievous, he desires one bounty above all others: Mace Windu, the Jedi responsible for his father's death.
When circumstance and Anakin Skywalker lead Boba Fett to the cosmopolitan world of Coruscant, Boba descends into its criminal underbelly, preparing for the most significant showdown of his young life.
In a battle of bounty hunter against Jedi, Boba Fett seizes his only opportunity for retribution.
A twelve-year-old Boba Fett finds himself within a Separatist fortress located on Xagobah. Immobilized by a toxin deployed to evade a near-death experience with General Grievous, Fett lies prone on the ground. He is about to be incinerated in a blast furnace, but his paralysis wears off, allowing him to destroy two droids and escape. He exits the stronghold and makes it to Slave I. Once he's in space, he identifies his primary target and launches an assault on Tambor's starship. After inflicting damage on the vulnerable vessel, he is forced to cease his attack due to the arrival of Asajj Ventress, who nearly defeats him, but Anakin Skywalker intervenes in the nick of time.
Skywalker compels Fett to land on a nearby moon. After exchanging pleasantries, Skywalker starts repairing Slave I, while Fett fixes his armor. Once they are done, Skywalker tries to take Fett into custody, but a giant space slug incapacitates Anakin, giving Fett the opportunity to destroy the massive creature. He shoots the slug in the head multiple times, causing it to retreat into hiding, and Skywalker agrees not to arrest Fett, but directs him to go to Coruscant since Fett revealed he possessed information crucial to the Galactic Republic.
Upon entering Coruscant's airspace, he is greeted by Governor Tarkin and Luminara Unduli who escort him to the Jedi Temple. Inside the Temple, Fett proceeds to the visitor's quarters, passing Mace Windu (whom he holds responsible for his father's demise) along the way. In his quarters, Fett reaches out to Jabba the Hutt's contact on Coruscant, Hat Lo. Boba awaits at a landing platform for Elan Sel'Sabagno, who transports him to a bar owned by Hat Lo, where Boba acquires various weapons before returning to the Temple with Elan. Once back inside, he rushes to Windu's quarters, only to find he is too late. He bursts through a window and flies to the Senate Building. He forces his way into Palpatine's quarters and discovers Windu awaiting the Chancellor. They engage in combat, with Windu disarming Fett of most of his weapons. The battle concludes in a stalemate, with both poised to strike when Palpatine arrives and reprimands Windu.
Boba informs Palpatine about the trap that the clone army has become because of Count Dooku. Palpatine confirms his awareness and subtly reveals his intentions to Boba. The Chancellor provides Boba with a cube of credits to ensure his silence. Boba returns to Slave I to contemplate his future, finally letting go of his past.
The events depicted in the novel are inconsistent with the narrative of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In the book, Mace Windu is unaware of Boba Fett's existence and his connection to Jango, whereas in the TV series, he is knowledgeable. Furthermore, in the series, Boba seeks revenge on Mace Windu by infiltrating his Jedi cruiser and causing it to crash; he used Jango Fett's helmet by placing a motion-sensitive bomb in it. At this point, Boba did not possess Mandalorian armor. Instead, he was dressed in a dark gray jumpsuit with a brown belt holding a twin blaster holster, along with white kneepads and boots that closely resembled those worn by his father. On the cover, Anakin Skywalker's appearance mirrors his look in Revenge of the Sith. The image is inverted, resulting in his hair being parted on the wrong side, his scar appearing on the right side of his face instead of the left, and his glove being on the incorrect hand.
Asajj Ventress and her Fanblade starfighter are also featured on the cover. She is shown engaging in a dogfight with Boba, despite her apparent desertion from the Separatist cause following the Battle of Boz Pity just one month prior.
Two Imperial-class Star Destroyers are depicted on the cover, although these vessels do not appear in the story itself.
The dent on Boba's helmet on the cover is a detail he will not acquire until after the events of this novel, during a confrontation with Darth Vader.
Wilhuff Tarkin makes an appearance in this book before his promotion to Grand Moff.
Boba Fett confronts Mace Windu in an attempt to avenge his father's death, a scenario many fans had hoped to witness. Fett, a rash child at the time, proves to be a match for the Jedi Master, but the fight ends before either is killed. This event may have influenced Darth Vader's future perception of Boba Fett as a highly skilled and dependable bounty hunter.
Boba Fett repaints his father's armor with the green and red design that would later become notorious.
In later editions of this title, the word "Wars" was mistakenly omitted from the title Star Wars on the spine.
This book erroneously states that Boba Fett had never visited Coruscant before, which is contradicted by Boba Fett: The Fight to Survive.
The book incorrectly portrays Jedi Luminara Unduli as having dark eyes and bronze skin, when in reality, she has bright blue eyes and olive green skin.
At the story's conclusion, Boba Fett considers attending the Regional Sector Number Four's All-Human Free-For-All on Jubilar, implying that the events at the beginning of the short story "The Last One Standing: The Tale of Boba Fett" occur immediately afterward. However, according to the timeline, this story is set at least six years earlier. It remains possible, of course, for Fett to have visited the games prior to that time.
