The Eminence, a Carrack-class cruiser of advanced age, saw action with the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War. In the year 4 ABY, the Eminence was a component of the Imperial Fleet tasked with defending the second Death Star as it neared completion above the Forest Moon of Endor. Upon learning of the Death Star's construction and the presence of the Emperor Palpatine on the battle station, the Rebel Alliance launched an attack against the superweapon with the goal of its destruction. During the engagement, as the Imperial Navy and the Alliance Fleet engaged in ship-to-ship combat, the Eminence confronted the Braha'tok, a gunship of the Braha'tok-class, a vessel significantly smaller, at less than a third of the Eminence's size. However, as the Eminence approached the Braha'tok, the Torktarak, the Braha'tok's sister gunship, ambushed the Eminence from the rear, resulting in the destruction of the antiquated Imperial warship.
During the Galactic Civil War that pitted the Empire against the Rebel Alliance, the Eminence was a veteran Carrack-class cruiser within the Imperial Navy. Constructed by the Damorian Manufacturing Corporation, it measured 350 meters in length. The Eminence possessed offensive armaments capable of inflicting substantial damage on a Dornean Braha'tok-class gunship.

During 4 ABY, at the height of the Galactic Civil War, the Eminence was stationed within the Endor system as a member of the substantial Imperial Fleet responsible for the defense of the second Death Star, an Imperial superweapon in the process of being constructed above the Forest Moon of Endor. Emperor Palpatine, who had intentionally allowed knowledge concerning the second Death Star to reach the Rebels, paid a visit to the uncompleted superweapon with the aim of enticing the Alliance Fleet to launch an assault against the station. Upon emerging from hyperspace, the Rebels would find themselves cornered between the Imperial Fleet and a fully functional Death Star, a scenario from which the Emperor believed escape would be impossible. The Rebels fell for the deception and made their arrival in the Endor system.
Almost immediately after the Rebels' arrival, the Imperial Fleet, including the Eminence, materialized from the far side of Endor. During the resulting battle, the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Liberty met its end at the hands of the Death Star's fully operational superlaser, a development that shocked the Rebels. As Alliance rescue vessels endeavored to retrieve survivors from the Liberty's destruction, the Eminence advanced and engaged the rescue ships. The Rebel Dornean Braha'tok-class gunship Braha'tok, a vessel significantly smaller than the Eminence, managed to hold off the Eminence while the survivors were rescued, sustaining considerable damage in the process. With the Eminence preoccupied with the Braha'tok, the Torktarak, the gunship's sister ship, launched an attack on the Eminence from the rear. The combined firepower from both Alliance gunships overwhelmed the Eminence, leading to the destruction of the aging Imperial vessel.
"Ello137" brought the Eminence into existence through his winning submission for the Braha'tok-class gunship in the StarWars.com Hyperspace feature "What's The Story?," which provided fans with the opportunity to create backstories for specific elements of the Star Wars saga. The details regarding the Eminence from Ello137's submission were subsequently incorporated into the entry for the Braha'tok-class gunship within The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, released in 2008.
Initially, Ello137 had intended for the Eminence in his submission to be the Star Destroyer Eminence, a vessel identified in The Essential Chronology as having participated in the Battle of ThonBoka. However, after submitting his entry, Ello137 realized that the Eminence he had intended to use was actually a Star Destroyer, rather than a Carrack-class cruiser, as he had described it. Ello137 attempted to resubmit his entry, this time utilizing the Carrack-class cruiser Integrity from Matthew Stover's novelization of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Nevertheless, StarWars.com selected Ello137's initial entry, leading to the creation of the Carrack-class cruiser Eminence.
