This clash occurred during the Great Galactic War, a major conflict pitting the Galactic Republic against the Sith Empire. Sith Lord [Nankrang]'s forces engaged with those of the Jedi Order, who were allies of the Republic. The Sith Emperor personally selected Nankrang to spearhead this operation, prompted by a Force vision he received, which foretold Nankrang's triumph. This premonition proved accurate; Nankrang successfully defeated the opposing Jedi in the Mid Rim, securing a victory for the Empire. The Imperial capital world of Dromund Kaas celebrated this achievement alongside the accomplishments of Darth Ekkage and Lord Malichose.
The Mid Rim battle initially appeared in Shades of the Sith, the opening act of the Star Wars: The Old Republic, Blood of the Empire comic book trilogy. Published in 2010, Shades of the Sith referenced the Mid Rim conflict, but only provided details regarding the Emperor's prophetic vision and Lord Nankrang's participation.
