The Ithorian Doctor Farnsworth employed this equipment while researching the jungles encircling the city of Kachirho on the planet Kashyyyk. During 1 ABY, five of the Ithorian's monitoring tools ceased sending information to him, probably because of atmospheric interference. Consequently, Farnsworth engaged a spacer to manually retrieve the information.
