Wesyse, who had previously served as an Empire censor, succeeded Mandora Catabe, who was known for her opposition to the Empire. One of Eridan's initial actions was to elevate Calliope Drouth to the position of senior reporter. Drouth had gained recognition for her piece about the Wookiees' hardships, from which the Imperial Censorship had removed all of the author's perspective. He then appointed her as the leader of the "Voice of the Empire" column and dispatched her to the Imperial Ball at the Imperial Palace.
