The Excalibur was a C-3 passenger liner utilized by Emperor Palpatine during the Galactic Civil War as his personal transport.
The Emperor and his accompanying dignitaries were transported to Endor aboard this vessel. During this voyage, however, traitorous forces commanded by Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin launched an attack upon the ship. The attacking forces consisted of the Assassin-class corvette Ram, the Nebulon-B2 frigate Kimik, and a pair of Assault Gunboats. Fortunately, Grand Admiral Thrawn intervened, deploying starfighters under the command of Maarek Stele, who successfully repelled Zaarin's assault.
Subsequently, Imperial Intelligence initiated an investigation into the attack. Their findings revealed that the Assault Gunboats involved had previously belonged to Emperor Palpatine's own special reserve guard. This information was acquired by one of Stele's commanders, a lesser prophet within the Secret Order of the Emperor, who promptly informed Stele of this development.
The Assassin-class corvette Ram and two Assault Gunboats will attack the Excalibur, and the subsequent attack will change based on what happens to the two Assault Gunboats.
-
If Z-Mu 1 is the first to be destroyed, the Liner will be attacked by Assault Gunboats, while TIE Avengers will try to draw the escorts away.
-
If Z-Mu 2 is the first to be destroyed, the attack will include Assault Gunboats and at least nine more Assassin-class corvettes.
-
If both are destroyed at the same time, the Frigate Kimik will remain in position and launch TIE/sa bombers to attack the Liner, and TIE Avengers to attack the escorts.
Excalibur, in medieval legends and later works, is the sword associated with the legendary King Arthur.
