F1 exploration droid

The F1 exploration droid functioned as a guardian and partner, built for use by scouts operating in unexplored territories.

Description

This quadrupedal droid, standing at one meter in height, possessed a clear canine appearance. The F1 exploration droid incorporated a suite of sensors, including two photoreceptors, audio sensors, olfactory sensors, an array of motion sensor and infrared sensors. A communications array, facilitating connection to a starship, was situated at the rear. Unique grasping jaws enabled the droid to grip objects without causing damage. However, the droid's verbal communication was restricted to a limited range of warning sounds.

Role

As a protector and companion, the F1 exploration droid was created to accompany scouts on their journeys to new planets. The F1's role was to use its extensive array of sensors to alert scouts to any nearby vehicles or lifeforms that might pose a threat. It was designed to use its sensors to locate and potentially save a scout in danger, and use its grasping jaws to lift and drag them out of harm's way.

History

A F1 exploration droid

Scouts exploring the frontier often favored F1 droids. During one of their initial scouting missions, the scout Zeb used a group of F1s. Zeb realized that by assigning perimeter security to the droids, the scout could unwind and devote time to analyzing recon data without worrying about being surprised by a local creature.

During the Galactic Civil War, Davaire Colmar, in version 4.7.1 of Cynabar's Droid Datalog, shared a story that the bounty hunter Noval Garaint, operating from the Kheedar system, had modified a half dozen F1s to act as heavily armed guards. The thief Tombat allegedly encountered them during a burglary.
