Borhek

Bred specifically for the brutal arena of pit fighting, borheks typically stood at a towering two meters in height, often enhanced through genetic engineering. Their incredible resilience and capacity to withstand immense damage rendered them highly sought after for competitive events, particularly those staged at locations such as the Outland Station. The origins of this practice were lost to the mists of time, predating any recorded history.

These imposing insectoid creatures boasted six limbs and were encased in a remarkable color-shifting carapace. Renowned for their exceptional strength, borheks possessed exoskeletons capable of deflecting incoming blaster fire. This natural armor was further augmented by sharp spikes, designed to inflict wounds upon any who dared to attack them. A prominent horn adorned their heads, enabling them to impale their targets, rendering them equally formidable whether charging head-on or skillfully evading. Despite its strength and spiked nature, the armor maintained a degree of flexibility, allowing the borhek to defensively curl into a ball and roll across the ground, a tactic often employed when feeling threatened. Powerful mandibles equipped them to clamp down relentlessly on their prey after delivering a bite.

Borheks were notorious for their volatile temperaments, easily provoked into fits of uncontrollable rage, a characteristic ruthlessly exploited by those who employed them in the brutal spectacle of pit fights. Often, these creatures were fitted with illicit pain stimulators, artificially inducing heightened aggression to ensure they attacked their opponents with unrelenting ferocity.

The Outland Transit Station gained notoriety for hosting borhek combat in a dedicated arena, featuring a celebrated yellow champion borhek who reigned supreme until the underhanded tactics of Meeko Ghintee led to its demise. Jango Fett, in pursuit of Meeko to collect the bounty on his head, found himself facing Meeko's tampered-with borhek, which Fett ultimately defeated. The deaths of both the champion borhek and the rigged creature resulted in a 10,000-credit bounty being placed on Meeko's head, a reward ironically claimed by Fett himself.
