The Bestine system, found in the Inner Rim section of the galaxy, encompassed Kestic Station along with the planet called Bestine IV. Its main star was known as Bestine.
Within the Bestine system, both Red Squadron and Rogue Squadron included pilots such as Jek Tono Porkins and Zev Senesca.
Furthermore, this system marks the location where Biggs Darklighter together with Derek Klivian chose to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic after a mutiny occurred on the Rand Ecliptic, an event that took place not long before the Battle of Yavin. These desertions were prompted by the destruction of the civilian freighter called the Lark in the same system, alongside the slaughter of its youthful passengers who were students from the Clarion Scholars Academy, an event that happened in the immediate lead-up.
During the investigation undertaken by the Alliance to Restore the Republic concerning the first Death Star, specifically while orbiting Bestine IV, the MC80 Star Cruiser known as the Defiance was engaged by the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Immortal. The Immortal launched squadrons of TIE/sa bombers with the intent to obliterate the Defiance. Rebel pilots managed to delay the bombers until the Defiance initiated a hyperspace jump to escape. The Independence later attacked in a very similar fashion.
