The Rebel stronghold, a space station utilized by the Alliance to Restore the Republic, was situated in the Outer Rim Territories proximate to an unidentified planet. This base of operations was assailed in 3 ABY by an Imperial armada led by Vice Admiral Thrawn and Lord Vader. The resulting battle led to the station's complete destruction. All Rebel forces present were annihilated, including a pair of fighters that were pursued and destroyed by two TIE Interceptors.

The events at the station serve as the introductory sequence for the game. The station itself has never received an official designation.
Two different versions of the introductory scene exist. The initial version depicted a brief skirmish involving three TIE Interceptors attacking a parked X-wing, while a turret unsuccessfully attempted to defend it. Subsequently, the cutscene showcased the station's progressive destruction, culminating in the explosive separation of one of its bays. The two fighters attempting to escape in this version were both X-wings.
The Collector's Edition features a modified version where the Interceptors' attack run occurs from a greater distance. A TIE Bomber then bombs the X-wing and turret, launching various projectiles. The station's destruction is limited to one or two explosions. In this rendition, the escaping fighters consist of an X-wing and an A-wing.
