Firedrakes were sizable, winged insects with proboscises, indigenous to Gallinore. These creatures emitted colored light, heat, and energy. Typically dwelling in caves, they emerged from their lairs as evening approached. These insects used their blinking patterns to communicate; brief blinks signified a summons. While hunting, Firedrakes were prone to attacking creatures of equal or lesser size, an encounter that Jaina Solo and Tenel Ka personally underwent. They employed their flashing lights as a means of distraction before launching pack ambushes on their prey.
Firedrakes were transported to other planets, including Hapes, however, they failed to acclimate to these new environments.
