The First Conference of Free Peoples represents a gathering of representatives. It was convened by the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 4 ABY, subsequent to the Battle of Endor. As part of its formal evolution into the New Republic, the Rebel Alliance established an interim goverment.
This inaugural Conference of Free Peoples occurred following the Bakura Incident's conclusion, roughly a week after the Battle of Endor.
The conference, which took place soon after the significant Imperial Navy defeat and the demise of Emperor Palpatine, brought into being the transitional governing body known as the Alliance of Free Planets. Representatives of species including the Aqualish, Bith, Em'liy, Ewoks, Hoojibs, Jawas, Ortolans, Pinurquian, Rodians, Twi'leks, Ugnaughts, and Zeltron were present. With delegates present from many free systems, the conference addressed topics such as trade, taxation, and the ruling and application of a fresh collection of interplanetary laws.
Mon Mothma and Admiral Gial Ackbar, the then-current leaders of the Rebel Alliance, presided over the conference, with decisions reached through a straightforward majority vote. The Declaration of the Alliance of Free Planets was the conference's primary outcome.
