The First Phlog crisis involved a battle on Endor's forest moon, where several local Phlogs fought against the Ewoks residing in Bright Tree Village. Morag, a Tulgah witch, instigated the conflict by abducting Nahkee, a Phlog's offspring, and falsely accusing the Ewoks. The naive Phlogs, including Zut, Dobah, and Hoom, sought vengeance on the Ewoks for the supposed kidnapping, and began their journey to the Ewok settlement. Morag, after moving the Phlog child to the Dulok Swamp, went to the village to witness the Phlogs' destructive actions. Despite utilizing catapults to defend themselves, the Ewoks could not defeat the Phlogs' advance, and it seemed the tree structure would soon be destroyed.
However, Latara, Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, Wicket Wystri Warrick, and Teebo, the Ewok children, managed to sneak into the Dulok Swamp and successfully rescue the Phlogs' child. Upon returning the child to its parents, the Phlogs ceased their attack, satisfied with the child's return. The Duloks, who were responsible for protecting the child during the assault, arrived at the village to reclaim Nahkee. Realizing the deception, the Phlogs redirected their aggression towards the Duloks, pursuing them back to their swamp. Enraged by this turn of events, Morag lashed out at the Dulok leaders, King Gorneesh and Shaman Umwak, punishing them for their failure.
