Hailing from Corellia, the planet, Fortune was a Human male who rose to the rank of commander within the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War.
After Admiral Gial Ackbar successfully persuaded Tuz, the Mon Calamari pirate, to act as a privateer for the Alliance, Fortune, working alongside Vice Admiral Wirriz, was assigned the task of overseeing Tuz's activities. Fortune collaborated with Tuz, taking on the guise of his lieutenant to facilitate the capture of Imperial resources and ensure their delivery to the Rebel Alliance.
Several months into this endeavor, in 0 BBY, Commander Fortune, accompanied by Tuz, Wirriz, and two Gamorreans, boarded the Alliance MC80 Home One type Star Cruiser named Independence. Their mission was to deliver stolen Imperial technology and intelligence to Commanders S'man and Hamo Blastwell for an upcoming operation. While present, they crossed paths with Samuel Raider, Puck Naeco, and Keyan Farlander from Red Squadron. Raider recognized Tuz from a prior unpleasant encounter, denouncing the Mon Calamari as a con artist and a fraud. Following a short scuffle between Sam Raider and one of the Gamorreans, Fortune clarified his involvement in Tuz's partnership with the Alliance. However, he voiced his reservations regarding the pirate's claims of genuine loyalty to the Rebellion, before departing the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser.
