Free Radical Design, a video game developer situated in the UK, was established in 1999 and gained recognition primarily through its creation of the acclaimed TimeSplitters franchise. From 2006 to 2008, the company dedicated its efforts to the development of Star Wars: Battlefront III, a project that ultimately faced cancellation at the hands of LucasArts.
The cancellation of Battlefront III, coupled with the underwhelming launch of Haze, pushed the company towards financial collapse by the close of 2008. Subsequently, in February 2009, Crytek acquired the struggling studio, rebranding it as Crytek UK. The studio's story concluded in 2014 when Crytek divested its assets to Koch Media, resulting in the transfer of its personnel to Dambuster Studios.
