Freedom (painting)

Freedom was a painting that could be found in the galaxy sometime after the Battle of Yavin during the era of the Galactic Civil War. The artwork showcased a diverse palette of colors, featuring red, yellow, white, blue, and green, all presented as various rounded forms. Numerous colors were arranged in striped or circular designs. A nude humanoid figure was positioned in the left foreground, with its left arm extended upwards. The painting was seen as paradoxical, given that the phrase "Glorious Sacrifice" was inscribed at the top, while the phrase "Freedom isn't Free" was at the bottom. Additionally, the image seemed mismatched with the text, suggesting a hasty alteration.

Behind the scenes

Freedom was a painting featured in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, which had its initial launch on June 26, 2003 and its servers closed on December 15, 2011. Players could use it as a decorative item within their in-game homes, and it was created by gathering all the components for the "viewscreen printer" item, which could be obtained as loot from different enemies within the game. Once all the parts were collected and combined, the printer would generate one of three random paintings, with the other two being Cargo Port Blueprint and Coronet Skyscraper Blueprint. Following the introduction of the New Game Enhancements in 2005, certain items needed for the viewscreen printer became unobtainable, significantly increasing the value of the paintings.
