The Fyrth system existed within the Inner Rim. Notably, it was home to multiple asteroid fields thought to be the exclusive origin of opila lightsaber crystals.
The Fyrth system had become integrated into the "civilized galaxy," the region extensively explored by the Galactic Republic, by 3959 BBY. Sometime before 3956 BBY, ancient Jedi Knights utilized the opila crystals from this star system, which were present in the galaxy. Between the years 12 ABY and 13 ABY, the Fyrth system fell within the territory controlled by the New Republic.
The BioWare video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, released in 2003, marked the first mention of the Fyrth system. In 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, the system's entry refers to the asteroid fields that produced the opila crystals in the singular, a detail that clashes with other sources. This discrepancy, including the book's own opila entry, is regarded as an error in this article. It was situated in grid square Q-7 in the reference book The Essential Atlas (2009).
