Galactic Constitution Conference

The Galactic Republic was established at the Galactic Constitution Conference, which served as its initial assembly. A stipulation was demanded by the Corellians within the Galactic Constitution: the Contemplanys Hermi clause. This permitted the Corellian system to exercise provisional self-governance by stepping down from the Senate.
