Supreme Chancellor election, 28 BBY
An election to determine the next Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic took place within the Galactic Senate during the year of 28 BBY (corresponding to 7:10:5 GrS). Palpatine, the current office holder, secured a second term, lasting four years. Subsequently, in 24 BBY, the Senate modified the Galactic Constitution, effectively allowing Palpatine to remain Chancellor past the usual two-term limit.
