Galboron, a planet, existed within the Galboron system. This system was situated within the Hertae sector, which itself was located in the Mid Rim's the Slice region. Alongside the Nexus Ortai system, it was positioned close to where the hyperlanes of the Askar Trace intersected with the Reena Trade Route. The Askar Trace provided connections to Leritor, Lanos, and the Bresnia system, while the Reena Trade Route linked it to the Masterra and Spirador systems.
During 18 BBY, the Noolian Crisis commenced when Aqualish members, who were holdouts from the now-defeated Confederacy of Independent Systems, took control of Galboron, as well as other nearby worlds. The Galactic Empire deployed a task force that ultimately defeated the Aqualish during the celebrated Battle of Galboron, thus ending the conflict.
The name Galboron initially appeared in Galladinium's Fantastic Technology, a 1995 sourcebook by Rick D. Stuart for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, as part of the Battle of Galboron's name. Later, in 2012, the reference work The Essential Guide to Warfare, written by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart, formally established Galboron as a distinct astronomical body. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Galboron system, and consequently the planet itself, within grid square Q-14.
