Jicoln Cadera chasing a rival during the Geroya be Haran
A rare Mandalorian custom, the Geroya be Haran served as a formal challenge. It was used as a way of resolving disputes of honor, where the two individuals involved would battle until one met their death.
During the Cold War era, it was regarded as the most significant challenge within Mandalorian culture. When translated from Mando'a to Galactic Basic Standard, its meaning is as follows:
The term Geroya be Haran translates to "game of annihilation". Unlike other forms of Mandalorian duels from that time period, which were fought over personal honor, the Geroya be Haran carried a distinctive consequence for the defeated party: all of their accomplishments and even their memory were erased from Mandalorian records, as if they had never existed. Consequently, because of the severity of the outcome, the Geroya be Haran was rarely put into practice.
The infrequent employment of the Geroya be Haran resulted in the tradition's origins becoming unclear. It was a common belief that the Geroya be Haran originated as a representation of an important triumph achieved by the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars.
The Geroya be Haran made its initial appearance in Star Wars canon within the massively multiplayer online game Star Wars: The Old Republic. This game was developed by BioWare and launched on December 20, 2011.
